Why We Need Wildflowers

Why We Need Wildflowers

  • Wildflowers are a haven for wildlife, they are an essential part of the UK landscape that's sadly diminishing every year.
  • Wildflowers are our native flowers, that are unaltered by people.
  • As an example bird's-foot trefoil is a food plant for 160 species of insects, which in turn support mammals and birds, such as shrews and lapwings.
  • Wildflowers provide bees, butterflies and other pollinators with food throughout the year.  In turn these pollinators pollinate our fruit and veg.
  • Wildflowers have complex root systems, making soil stable.  This helps to mitigate flooding by holding on to rain water, and stops nutrients from washing away.
  • Since the 1930's, we've lost 97% of our wildflower meadows in the UK, we need to act now and the only difference we can make is to add as many different wildflowers to our gardens.
  • It's not just bees that need help, butterflies and moths also need a helping hand as their numbers are also drastically declining.

Why buy from Christinas

  • We aim to delivery within 3 days of your order
  • We aim to keep the seeds reasonably priced
  • I've grown wildflowers myself and seen an increase in different types of pollinators visiting my garden.  I grow them for a number of years before I add them to my website for sale.
  • No pesticides or herbicides are used in the creation of seeds grown by myself.
  • At the moment, a small amount of the seed I sell is from my own garden - this will increase in time.  The rest is sourced from UK farms.
  • You can be confident that you are buying native UK wildflower seeds to produce native UK wildflower beds in your garden.
