It is getting harder to predict what our weather is going to do, so months are less defined when it comes to jobs to do in the garden. Daffodils and blossom trees should finally be in full flower, we can expect more rain in April giving gardens a much needed watering (or should I say April used to have lots of rain). There is still the chance of morning frosts so some plants will still need a little bit of protection, but it's an exciting month as indoor sown seeds should be well into growth and it's time to start sowing outside and paying attention to lawns.
Jobs For April
- Keep on top of weeds, either by pulling them out, or using a weed killer.
- Protect fruit blossom from those final frosts.

- Sow hardy annuals, herbs and wild flower seed outside
- Increase the water given to houseplants
- Feed shrubs and roses
- Sow new lawns or repair bare patches
- Divide bamboos
- Start planting new perennials
- Protect new seedlings from animals that may walk over them and crush the sapling or knock the pot over.
